The Young Me

I tend to be very loyal to brands. One of my favourite brands while I was younger was

Events. They were adventurous with colour and they had quality fabrics. I bought so much

from there and I enjoyed wearing their clothes. Suits, dresses, all quite divine! I received so

many compliments.

They had mouth-wateringly beautiful little suits. Watermelon with a fishtail skirt and a

nipped in jacket. Mint linen. Vibrant violet wool crepe.

Then the dresses. Electric blue silk which I passed to my mother to wear to a wedding. A

white babydoll dress that I went home with trepidation with as I thought my mother would

say it was too revealing. The heavy silver beaded dress which I wore to glittering effect at a

friend’s daytime wedding.

The turquoise silk cropped top and palazzo pants. Which I ripped on my first wear when my

foot got caught while I was running up stairs. The stunning red wool crepe skirt with the

embroidered waistband. The electric blue wool crepe skirts. The navy jacket with the

matching little pleated skirt.

The black ramie skirt. My first piece from Events – a white silk dress with interest at the

shoulder and a bare back which I wore to a 21 st . So many tactile fabrics in pieces which I

adored. I spent my twenties in this brand…

Then Pierucci, also an Australian brand but with fabrics sourced from Italy. Hot dresses,

stylish suits, shirts, work dresses. I still have many pieces in my wardrobe. Also adventurous

with colour and having a certain sexy, dangerous edge to them.

Beautiful silk shirts which only Pierucci could produce. Cocktail dresses in silk, some with a

smattering of sequins. The purple strapless silk dress, the alpaca violet jacket. The black silk

edged shirtdress. The suit. So many, many gorgeous pieces.

Now I am a bit better at selecting clothing across brands but I do tend to be loyal to some. It

might be the fit or the edginess of their designs which attracts me. But it also is highly likely

to be the fabric or the colour. And it could be from Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Hong Kong,

Korea, or the USA. But also quite likely to be Australia.
